Natural Environment Focus Group
Chaired by Jane Sellwood, who comes from a scientific background, this group is primarily concerned to maintain our existing wildlife, natural green areas, ponds, ancient trees and similar environmental issues whether officially recorded or not throughout the Parish.
This means taking a long hard view of developers proposals particularly in the in the context of new green spaces to be provided both in new developments and additional public open spaces outside developments. Ensuring these new spaces meet a sensible level of protection and provide for the wide range of local interests.
An important aspect of the Group’s work is to try to ensure that ‘green gaps’ continued to be maintained between enlarged settlements of Shinfield, Ryeish Green, Spencers Wood & Three Mile Cross.
Green spaces need trees, shrubs and on-going management to ensure they stay in tip top condition.
