Work starts on the Eastern Relief Road
At the beginning of January, work began on the Eastern Relief Road, running from Parrot Farm on Arborfield Road, via a new motorway bridge, to the Black Boy roundabout.
The following progress report was received from Hochtief:
During the last few months the project team has been working hard to finalise detailed designs and establish the site office ahead of schedule. This enabled some early vegetation clearance work to be carried out and reduce the risk of disturbing hibernating animals.
With full access to the entire site, ground clearance work is continuing to programme and the demolition of the majority of the required buildings at Lane End Farm is due to commence at the end of January. Permanent fencing will also start to be erected around the site and construction of the new M4 bridge begins in earnest during early March, along with the main earthworks, weather permitting.
For the majority of the project the HOCHTIEF team will be based in the old dance studios at Lane End Farm. Anyone wanting more information about the work is welcome to visit the site offices, or contact Kelly Shear our Public Liaison Officer on 07976 180915
