Referendum success

Following the Neighbourhood Plan Referendum on Thursday 8th December, we are pleased to announce the results: Turnout 15% Votes in favour of the plan – 967 (87%) Votes against the plan – 140 (13%) The plan will now be ratified by Wokingham Borough Council at its February executive meeting.   A huge thank you to all our residents who have been involved in developing the plan over the last 4 years, and watch this space for how we build upon the progress of the plan going forward.         Share...

Fantastic news yesterday evening as Wokingham Borough Council officially approved the recommendation from the independent examination of the plan, to move it forward to referendum!   SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE REACHED IN LOCAL PLANNING – SHINFIELD NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN Local planning in the Wokingham Borough reached a significant milestone tonight (September 29), when Wokingham Borough Council’s decision-making executive accepted the report of the independent examination into the Shinfield Neighbourhood Plan. This means a referendum will take place on December 8 to determine whether the Shinfield Neighbourhood Plan should be adopted. If adopted, it would form part of the borough-wide development plan and would carry significant weight in the determination of planning applications in or affecting Shinfield Parish. This is the first neighbourhood plan in the Wokingham Borough.  Neighbourhood plans are prepared by town or parish councils, or neighbourhood forums. The plan can allow the community to have greater influence over development in its area.
